Textile artist Deborah Sylvester developed a passion for fabric many years ago as a child. She began the journey through the world of textile art in 1996. She made traditional quilts, but always with very contemporary colors. Her passion for intense color and more realistic designs led her to create photo realistic quilts.

Deborah’s award winning quilts have been displayed at many venues including: International Quilt Festival, Houston, TX; American Quilters Society, Paducah, KY; Road to California, Ontario, CA; Yokohama Quiltfest, Yokohama, Japan; Braddigans Arts and Crafts Gallery, Hillsborough, NC and many others. Her quilts have been published in various books and magazines. She has also been teaching and sharing her passion for  her   work for  a number of years.

She currently lives in the Pacific Northwest with her busy family. Believing her best is yet to come, Deborah keeps exploring and creating.

Her  focus for the past few years has been on the human form and particularly the women and the colors of India. Deborah’s exposure to the Indian culture began as a child with  family and friends of Indian heritage. She has also been exploring other aspects of contemporary quilting artistry and drawing.
